Here at Care Service INC. we get asked this question all the time. The smell usually resembles dust or a damp basement. This is because dust and dirt can collect in the ductwork of the house. When turning the heat on after a long summer, the small debris usually burns away, thus causing a musty smell.
My heating system is still producing a funny odor.
If the smell persists, have no fear. Ask yourself a simple question: “When was the last time I changed my air filter?” More often than not, the answer is probably “it’s been a while…” You should change your air filter often. Consult the box your filters came in to see the suggested lifespan. It may not be a bad idea to give us a call, too. There is a small chance a faulty electrical component is causing the smell. It never hurts to have someone take a look just in case.
We offer scheduled service checks to look for any signs of wear. Our goal is to prevent future problems. Even if the system is not one of ours, our certified technicians can diagnose and fix any problem that may arise. Contact us or give us a call today at 301-223-5749.
